Emma Mcllroy
Founder & CEO at Wildfang

Emma Mcilroy is CEO and founder of Wildfang: the home of the modern tomboy. Wildfang is an online and offline retailer serving up over 50 brands, including its own private label line. Wildfang.com launched in March 2013, with 20k+ girls joining the family in just 30 days.  Featured in The Guardian, New York Times, Vice, Cool Hunting, Refinery 29 and Vogue – the Wildfang family has, and continues to, grow fast at over 240% YOY.  Wildfang has built a highly engaged tribe of fans, including numerous A-List celebrities and musicians.  Emma and her co-founder, Julia Parsley were just recently named to the Upstart 100. Emma has over 10 years experience in brand & product marketing at two world-class brands: Nike and Barclays. A self-confessed brand marketing nerd, Emma graduated with a 1st Class Honors degree from Emmanuel College, Cambridge and has a healthy obsession for sports, Simpsons and irish whiskey.

Ana Andueza
CFO at Criterion Brock

Ana has over 20 years of experience as a CFO in the Portland area.  She started her career at Deloitte and Touche and has served as CFO for US Bancorp Equipment Finance, Irwin Commercial Finance and CriterionBrock.  She currently works as a "CFO to Go" serving small and start up companies in Portland including Green Zebra Grocery.  Ana graduated from U of O, received her Masters from PSUand holds a CPA license.  Ana is active in the local Angel investor community serving as Vice Chair of Angel Oregon 2015, is an adjunct professor of Finance Portland State University and works as a business adviser at the PCC Small Business Capital Access team

Rebecca Gardy
Senior Director, Investor Relations at Nike, Inc.

Rebecca is an intellectually curious business executive with a unique combination of finance, marketing, communications and entrepreneurial experience.  For well over two decades, she has been a strategic visionary with outstanding financial acumen.  She started her career in banking and corporate finance, and has served as a trusted advisor to C-level executives and business owners in a variety of industry sectors for years.  Her experience in strategic marketing and communication intersects with her deep finance background as she now leads Investor Relations at Nike, Inc.  She is passionate about paying it forward and providing entrepreneurs with the guidance, coaching and perspective to assist them in realizing their business dreams.  Rebecca received her undergraduate degree in Applied Economics from Cornell University and her MBA in Finance from Emory University.  As a mom to a Type 1 diabetic child, she is a relentless fundraiser and advocate for Type 1 Diabetes research, having participated in two JDRF Ride for a Cure events. Raised in a bilingual home, Rebecca is fluent in Spanish. 

Carl-Einar Thorner
CTO at Scratch-it

Carl is an entrepreneur with extensive experience designing, developing and deploying large enterprise software solutions for Fortune 500 companies. Carl's core competencies are in management, software development, high availability, cloud computing, computer security and scalability. He has contributed to several open source projects and presented at Novell's Brainshare and Linux World on topics such as deployment and development of enterprise software. In his academic career Carl did research and is published in the topics of image and signal process and wireless communications at UCSB.

Darren Buckner
Founder & CEO at Workfrom

Darren Buckner is currently the founder and CEO of Workfrom, Inc (workfrom.co). Darren has been a software developer, UI designer/engineer and business development professional for most of his career. He is passionate about building great things with a focus on simplicity, clean design and usability. His typical day includes writing software, developing business partnerships, crunching numbers and of course dreaming big. Darren has participated in 10+ Startup Weekends around the country and has been lucky enough to be on 5 winning teams. He is happy to help with anything and everything!

Ronda Closner
Business Development

Ronda is big believer in the benefits of an entrepreneurial community. She recently returned to PDX from Research Triangle Park (RTP) where she was an Entepreneur-in-Residence at a tech incubator with over 40 companies. Ronda loves the pace and excitement of people driven by new ideas and lots of passion. In previous lives Ronda has helped run a few startups, a venture fund, an angel network and plenty of crazy startup contests, weekends and pitch slams.

Sara Conte
Principal at SGC Ventures

Startup co-founder in the crossroads of design and technology. Seasoned in the entrepreneurial art of "figure it out" backed with a Harvard MBA.

Currently working primarily with private equity groups to evaluate market opportunity in digital investments.

Previous experience includes being the co-founder of PrestoBox, the world's first automated branding agency. Before that was Greenstar, a recycling company setting a new standard. Exited that company while it was being sold to Waste Management. Helped create the business while working for its private-equity parent company (NTR plc) in Europe.

Stephen Green
Vice President, Market Manager at Albina Community Bank

Stephen Green is part entrepreneur, economist & numbers guy with a penchant for always seeing the glass half full and is a firm believer that done beats perfect. With 20 years in entrepreneurship (starting his first  business while in college) and an established career in finance and lending, he hopes to continue to support entrepreneurs.

Stephen’s current entrepreneurial roles include a c co-founder of the nation’s first nonprofit brewpub & brewery (Oregon Public House) which in its fourth year in operation is poised to break the $1M revenue mark and will be opening its second location in 2017.He currently sits on the board of directors for six area nonprofits that are all based in N/NE Portland that support economic development, community development & education. He is the past board-chair for the Black United Fund of Oregon is the current Treasurer at the Oregon Public House. He is a Portland area native and graduated with a BS degree in economics from Western Oregon University.

Alex Huppenthal

I'm a CEO for several small startup companies, with a deep understanding of the market, regulatory and technology forces that shape initial business opportunities and continue to drive business response, with skills needs, product evolution and market and sales support. I've presented to Sand Hill Road Venture Capital companies and am comfortable working at the C level with the largest technology companies, including Sprint, British Telcom, AT&T, Smart, DTAC, Microsoft, the GSMA.

David Ogunrinde
Principal & Creative Director at INKROOTS

Along with helping leaders and brands engage by express themselves meaningfully, David also serves as an adjunct professor at the Graduate School at Rutgers University, teaching an immersive course in Visual Design for User Experience.

An experienced Creative Director, he has spent his career developing an intuitive and user-centered approach to branding and design. He has worked in both agency and corporate in-house environments, with broad experience serving corporate, non-profit, and start-up clients. When he’s not designing and making beautiful things that people love, he is spending time with his lovely wife, mentees, and godchildren. If you ask his nieces, he reigns as the “world’s most coolest uncle!” #fact.

Andrew Rossel

Andrew is a corporate attorney with years of experience in general corporate and private equity transactions. He started his career in-house at a start-up private equity fund focusing on general corporate matters, risk and regulatory management, and negotiating and structuring investment transactions. He has since gained experience in big law representing Fortune 500 financial services firms in their private equity offerings.

Andrew is a graduate of St. John's University School of Law.

Vittal Patel
Attorney at Immix Law Group

Vittal advises his clients on effective negotiation strategies in all situations with a focus on preserving long-term business relationships. As a business attorney, Vittal provides practical and effective solutions to formation, governance, business practices, finance and day-to-day advice.

Vittal started his career in the hotel and restaurant industry as a part of several family-owned businesses. He worked directly with employees, customers, and management to provide a stable foundation for sustainable growth through innovating online marketing, dynamic pricing, market research, and smart budgeting. Vittal continued the practice of business law out of law school in private practice and working in-house for a sports media company. Through this experience Vittal learned first-hand the challenges facing start-ups in sustaining growth, effective management, funding, and dealing with risks and liabilities.

Drew Taylor
Co-founder & CEO at AstroPrint (3DaGoGo, Inc)

A serial entrepreneur focusing on disruptive SaaS models.

I taught myself ASP (don't laugh) to create the Red Cat Social and Adventure Club (2002), taught myself PHP to create Banyan Email (2005), and then gave up and brought in the big technical guns for my last two companies! (FindYogaNow.com and AstroPrint.com) Evidently I'm much better strategizing and pitching than coding. Who knew?

Grounded in consumer and industrial products, Don is a B2B & B2C strategist addressing all aspects of the value chain from product conception to end user – with emphasis on sales, merchandising, marketing, and operations. He served on the team assembled to develop the Ashley HomeStore business model which today is the nation’s #1 retailer of home furnishing & décor products, and has guided growth and diversification efforts that include channel partnerships with Amazon, Better Homes and Gardens, Wayfair, Costco, The Home Depot, and other notable companies within their respective competitive space. Don possesses an MBA from Marylhurst University with concentration in marketing and finance.

Jo Wollschlaeger
Co-founder & Designer at Cardsmith

Jo is known for creating thoughtful and original solutions to many different types of challenges, from developing a new brand identity for a small local start up, to envisioning the future of baby care for a Fortune 500 company. She has a natural talent for using imagery to amplify and infographics to explain. She brings her two decades of design experience, a passion for problem-solving, and a collaborative spirit, to create great results for clients.

Lee Ngo
Educational Technology Community Architect

Lee Ngo is an educational technology community architect and founded his startup Scholar Hero through Startup Weekend. Previously, he served as Regional Manager for UP Global (acquired by Techstars) and has worked for educational organizations such as Strayer University, Galvanize, and Metis. Lee is currently the Chief Operating Officer with the Greater Foundation (begreater.org).
