Do you want to mingle with capable, intelligent, innovative peers who will team up to create a business in 54 hours?  This event will change your life and challenge your perspective of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Ownership.  What’s your best new idea?  What frustrates you when you’re going through your day and can you devise an idea to make it better?  Pitch your idea and see if it gets picked to be developed. 

Find out what new product or service you will help bring to market when you attend the caffeinated, food-stuffed Startup Weekend in Roseburg.
Startup Weekend Roseburg is being held in the Technical Building on the beautiful campus at Umpqua Community College (UCC).   UCC has provided for no-cost accommodations for those wishing to stay over during the event.  Security, shower and locker room will be available to those who register. Views of the Umpqua River will be prominent.


Friday April 24th

Review agenda for the weekend and introduce speakers, coaches, and community leaders

Optionally line up to give your pitch

Attendees vote for the top pitches

Form Teams
Teams start forming and discussing ideas

10:00 pm
Begin Work
Start to formalize teams and take an inventory of skills. Be honest, and direct about what resources and skills are needed for the weekend. You may stay and work as late as the venue will allow

Seth Buechley
SOLiD Technologies

Seth Buechley is President of SOLiD’s US and Canadian operations and oversees a growing team of industry leaders responsible for delivering innovative Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and Optical Transport solutions. He is also the founder of the Safer Buildings Coalition which seeks to ensure coverage for public-safety communications services inside buildings. Seth began his wireless career as a co-founder of CORD Communications, a turnkey network implementation company acquired by publicly-traded WesTower Corporation in 1998. He was then a founding investor and Vice Chairman of Washington Oregon Wireless (WOW), a Sprint PCS affiliate. In 2001, Seth co-founded Tri-Power Group, a leading DAS integrator based in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2008, he became President of SOLiD USA. Seth is a frequent speaker and blogger about emerging wireless technologies as well as policy and training initiatives within the public-safety wireless market.

Sam Gross

Sam Gross was an officer in the U.S. Army, serving 14 years in total; one year of which was in Afghanistan helping to rebuild to provinces. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Oregon and a Masters of Business Administration in Babson College, the #1 school for entrepreneurship. He is the owner/operator of the only local pizzeria in Roseburg. Sam is also the founder and CEO of a startup web business called, a national “buy local” website. Areas of advising include general business counseling, business plan development, marketing, business valuation, operations planning, social media and technology.

Bill Armstrong is a business instructor at Umpqua Community College with over thirty years of business experience. Bill earned a BS in accounting/finance from Oregon State University and an MBA from the University of Washington. He has small business experience as the owner/operator of a photography shop that specialized in computer imaging services. He was an auditor for Standard Oil of California, an accounting manager for Westinghouse, and has taught accounting, management, marketing, and computer classes at UCC for the last sixteen years.

Emphasis on strategy and finance. • Worked in Silicon Valley for Hewlett-Packard/Agilent Technologies for 25 years, mostly in R&D engineering management; my field was microwave instruments, used by engineers in radio, TV, cellular, and radar systems. • Worked for 5 years as a management consultant, with technology firms around the world as clients. • Moved to Jacksonville, OR, and launched Lamy Consulting in 2012. Focus is on Execution: implementing your strategy, R&D processes, metrics, project management, and similar challenges companies face as they try to grow. • My wife and I like to sail, row, and ski, and spend time with our two amazing grandsons.
