Tim Porter
Managing Director - Madrona

At Madrona: Tim will look at new companies across all of Madrona’s investment areas but has an emphasis on the software, infrastructure, and wireless sectors. He is particularly interested in SaaS, cloud computing, next-generation enterprise data centers, and opportunities created by new mobile platforms. Tim serves on the boards of Algorithmia, Context Relevant and Union Bay Networks and is a board observer for Apptio, ExtraHop Networks, Impinj, Jama Software, Jobaline, Skytap, Smartsheet, and Z2. He was previously on the boards of buuteeq (acquired by The Priceline Group, Inc.), Mobilisafe (acquired by Rapid7), Appature (acquired by IMS Health), and AppFog (acquired by CenturyLink Savvis). Tim is also a member of the three-person Investment Committee for the Alliance of Angels Seed Fund. Past lives: Prior to joining Madrona in 2006, Tim was a key member of Microsoft’s Corporate Development group, where he shared responsibilities for sourcing, structuring, and negotiating Microsoft’s acquisitions, strategic investments and joint ventures. While at Microsoft, Tim focused on enterprise software, security, and mobile and closed 14 transactions for over $850 million. Notable transactions included Microsoft’s acquisitions of Softricity, FrontBridge Technologies, ProClarity, Whale Communications, and Giant Company Software. Earlier in his career, Tim worked nearly five years for broadband satellite start-up Teledesic, spending his last year there also working for Craig McCaw’s Eagle River Investments. Extracurricular: Outside of work, Tim enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children. He is also a sports junkie and enjoys watching and playing basketball, despite having lost the step he never had. Education: Tim received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.


Scott Porad
CTO, Rover.com

Scott Porad is the CTO at Rover.com, a collaborative consumption marketplace for dog boarding.  Previously, Scott was CTO at the Cheezburger Network, the company behind the well-known user-generated content sites I Can Has Cheezburger?, Failblog, Memebase, TheDailyWh.at and Know Your Meme.  Since 1995, Scott has been building industry leading web sites including launching drugstore.com, working on ESPN.com at Paul Allen's Starwave Corporation and for Seth Godin at Yoyodyne Entertainment.  Scott lives online at http://scottporad.com and in real life with his family in Seattle.


Kristin Acker
Vice President, Product Teams - Zillow

Kristin Acker is the Vice President, Product Teams at Zillow. One of the initial members of the Zillow team, Kristin has led Program Management and User Interface Design teams at several companies including Microsoft, PictureIQ and Pure Networks. She also led a program management team at Expedia. Her longest tenure was at Microsoft where she worked from 1989 to 2000, primarily on consumer products such as Money, Publisher, Works, and Picture It. Before starting her tech career, she spent a year on the oceans serving on staff for Royal Cruise Line. Kristin attended Stanford where she was a varsity rower and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (AB) in Economics and Political Science. She lives in Lake Forest Park with her husband and three teenage sons.

Alec Matias
CEO, Pawzii

Alec co-founded Pawzii after learning how animal shelters and humane societies were operating their facilities with antiquated software. He's led development teams at Zillow, NFL, and NBC Universal.


Darren Austin
VP of Products, Glympse

Darren is a mobile media and e-commerce guy and a passionate technology entrepreneur who's been mobilizing the internet since 1999. He's spent time leading product teams for big consumer brands including Amazon.com, Motorola, AOL and Expedia and have also joined start-ups and started a couple businesses of my own. He's passionate about innovative consumer experiences and brainstorming cool new product ideas and business plans. Currently, he is leading product management efforts at Glympse.


Brewster Stanislaw
CEO and Co-Founder, Inside Social

As CEO of Inside Social, Brewster is dedicated to helping the world's largest brands harness the full potential of social marketing. He's worked with numerous Fortune 500 companies to measure and increase their social ROI by better understanding how social shares lead to sales. He's primarily responsible for the product roadmap and strategic vision at Inside Social where he has helped the company raise $1.1+ in seed financing from top-tier angels. A reformed financier, Brewster previously worked in equity sales and corporate finance at NYSE Euronext; he's since realized that zeros and ones are way more interesting in code than financial models. Brewster holds a B.A. magna cum laude in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics; and in Communication from the University of Pennsylvania. Brewster is a Seattle native and is passionate about Seattle sports teams and contributing to the startup ecosystem here.
