Startup Weekend EuroSeattle : WHERE IDEAS AWAKEN!

Have you ever wondered what it takes to become an entrepreneur? Here’s your opportunity to find out and take your business idea a step further into implementation. In 54 hours, find the right people with complementary skills & the passion to build a product or service in one weekend. Design your prototype, conduct user tests, receive coaching from experienced entrepreneurs, designers & industry professionals and win prizes that will help take your idea to the next level! All that, fueled with delicious European food!

  • Friday night: 60-second pitches that result in the formation of small teams around the best, most viable concepts.  We hope you’ll pitch, but definitely not required!
  • Saturday and Sunday: Work days! Teams focus on user research, customer development, validating their ideas and building prototypes with the help of experienced coaches from the entrepreneurial world.  You’re welcome to stay and work as long as the venue will allow!
  • Sunday afternoon: Teams demo their products and receive valuable feedback from a panel of expert judges.  Winning teams take home a grab bag of great tools to help launch their company!

    “First Place: 18 hours of our time @ $ 150.00 / hour = $ 2,700.00

    The idea is for the winning teams to use these hours in 2 hour increments (or more) to have us consult them as they develop their final product and go to market. We feel that this approach will provide them with ongoing support as they move forward. We feel this is of more use than offering them specific services.

Othmane Rahmouni
Founder and CEO at Yoga Panda

Othmane Rahmouni is a technology entrepreneur and the CEO of Yoga Panda: an on-demand fitness class finder app. With an educational background in Computer Science, Othmane started his career as a software engineer before transitioning to the business side and focusing on product management and business strategy. He always had a passion for starting things but it is not until he attended his first startup weekend event in February 2009 that he decided that entrepreneurship was the path for him. He has since launched multiple ventures, consulted with multiple startups and mentored numerous entrepreneurs. He has even traveled to Iraq in 2013 to serve as a coach for the first startup weekend hosted in Baghdad. He has attended the EuroSeattle Startup Weekend event last year and he is very excited about sharing his perspective about the startup world and the reality of being a technology entrepreneur in this 3rd edition of the event.

VP of Product Marketing North America for Sage

Eva Schoenleitner is a senior executive with outstanding track record of revenue, business development and Marketing success. She is currently the VP of Product Marketing North America for Sage, a leading software company of ERP and Accounting Solutions for Small and Medium Businesses. Prior to Sage Eva founded Stratoza, LLC, a Sales and Marketing Strategy consultancy advising high tech clients from the early start-up through large mature organizations and has over 15 years of experience in the high-tech software market with VMare and Microsoft. Her expertise lies in the areas of Sales, Marketing, and Channel Development including international expansions.

Kes Nielsen
Director, Developer Relations, Amazon Appstore for Android

Kes Nielsen has had a varied career over 12 years at Amazon.  In 2004 he joined Amazon’s UK books team as an “industry hire” having worked for WHSmith and Waterstone’s Booksellers over the preceding 10 years.  In 2009 he left books to launch Amazon’s apparel category in the UK and after 3 years building that business he moved to Seattle for his current role in which he oversees a number of developer facing teams for the Amazon Appstore for Android.  His group is responsible for driving mutual success for Amazon and third party app and game developers across Amazon’s fast growing portfolio of Fire tablet and TV devices as well as on Android devices at large.  He is passionate about creating new and delightful ways to connect buyers and sellers and excited to see some examples of this at EuroSeattle 3.

Beatrice Geoffrin
Director of Product Management,

Beatrice has over 10 years of Business and Product Management at She is currently Director of Product Management for Amazon Echo, a new device designed around your voice. Prior to that, she served as the Technical Advisor for’s SVP of International Retail. Beatrice moved to Seattle in 2013, after spending 3.5 years in Beijing where she launched a new line of business for Amazon China. From 2005 to 2010, Beatrice held several business management roles within Amazon Europe, leading sales and technical teams. Throughout her time at Amazon, Beatrice especially enjoyed building products and services that customers love, and scaling them into leveraged platforms. Beatrice is a French national who enjoys discovering new parts of the world, learning new languages and trying new food.

Diane Najm

A Serial Entrepreneur CEO & Founder Of PhotoPad for Business. A leader and passionate about the start-up community, Serves as Former  Director, Seattle Founder Institute, Mentor, Coach and organizer to Start up Weekend, Expert Panelist and speaker on Entrepreneurship,Invited to the White House Digital Tech summit and served on Delegation for Vancouver First Startup Week and panelist for Bridging the Gap between Seattle and Vancouver , as well as, seeks ways to help entrepreneurs  connect with one another and provides resources to assure success.   Thought leader and advocate for Women Entrepreneurs and empower them to pursue their startups serving as advisers to start-ups ,Board of Directors  to  Women In Wireless and Women in Tech.Passionate to give back to the community in the philanthropy sector, serving on the Board of Trustee for a non-profit  Olive Crest

Olivier Fontana
Director of Product Strategy for Microsoft Translator

Olivier Fontana is the Director of Product Strategy for Microsoft Translator, the group within Microsoft Research responsible for the text and speech translation technologies for the company. A 12 years veteran at Microsoft, he has held various leadership positions in product marketing, field and partner marketing and program management. Previous to Microsoft, Olivier worked for Philips Electronics, the Netherlands. A native from France, where he started his career, he holds both a MSEE from ESIEE Engineering School, France and a MBA from RSM Erasmus, The Netherlands.

Marion Chereau
Graphic Designer & Visual Branding, Nordstrom

Marion is a Senior Print Designer at Nordstrom Headquarter in Seattle Washington.
She studied in Paris and graduated with a Master Degree in Visual Communication and Graphic Design from ESAG Pennighen.
Marion worked for 6 years within the Art Direction at Hermes-Paris, before moving to the United States in 2009. She is passionate about Art and Fashion and love to explore new supports of expressions through Artists partnerships and cultural events.
She is currently in charge of developing prints for Soft Accessories, Home and Lingerie at Nordstrom.
She has been working as creative consultant and graphic designer on multiple brand identities in France and US for diverse start-ups and clothing companies.

Gerard Zytnicki
Principal Partner, Zycki LLC

Gerard Zytnicki is a Principal Partner with Zycki LLC, a Management and Technology Consulting firm in Seattle. He is a Microsoft veteran having spent over 25 years in various executive positions at the company. Gerard is an active Angel investor. He participated in the Seattle Angel Conference and currently belongs to the Seattle Angel Fund where he screens Startups and make investment recommendations. He is also involved as advisor and mentor with several Startups in the Seattle area including the University of Washington Comotion center for commercialization and several seed level companies.

Alexandra Filutowski
Owner and Managing Attorney The Filutowski Law Firm, PLLC

Alexandra Filutowski founded The Filutowski Law Firm, PLLC in Seattle, a boutique civil litigation firm handling insurance, personal injury, employment and contract matters.  In 2012, Ms. Filutowski pitched her SAAS solution for law firms in the Washington Technology Industry Association (formerly Northwest Entrepreneur Network) First Look Forum Competition, placing in the top 12.

Ms. Filutowski is committed to mentoring and teaching.  She has lectured on law at the National University of Singapore, University of Florence in Italy, Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, California State University, the University of Washington and Seattle University School of Law.  

Ms. Filutowski holds a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law and B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Washington.  A Puget Sound native and first generation Polish-American, Ms. Filutowski has been a lifetime attendee of the Seattle Polish Home.

Geir Hansen
Managing Director, Silicon Valley Bank

Geir Hansen is a Managing Director with a specific focus on emerging technology companies in Silicon Valley Bank’s Seattle office.

Hansen has been a commercial banker since 1993 and joined Silicon Valley Bank in 1996. Prior to his banking career, he spent five years as a securities analyst with a Seattle-based investment firm.

Hansen currently serves as Treasurer of the Board of Trustees for Hamlin Robinson  School, a school focused on the unique needs of students with dyslexia and other reading disorders.

Hansen has in the past volunteered his time on the Alliance of Angel’s Screening Committee and the board of the Northwest Entrepreneur Network. He was also a member of NWEN’s First Look Forum, Breakfast Buzz, and Board Development committees. He also served as the Secretary of the Northwest Chapter of The MIT Enterprise Forum and Vice Chair of the chapter’s MIT Venture Lab.

Hansen earned a Bachelor Business Administration degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington.

Gregor Schmidt
Creative Technologist

Gregor is the Co-Founder and Digital Barista at ESPRESSO, a highly caffeinated global digital media agency based in Seattle. ESPRESSO specializes in providing small to mid-size businesses and emerging technologies and startups across the US, Europe and Asia with the digital media impact usually reserved for bigger brands.  He is also a managing partner at digital agency S5i in Seattle, and a co-founder of The Cyber Twins.
Gregor has been a digital innovator and disruptor for over 25 years. After earning degrees in visual communication and marketing in California he moved to Seattle in 1990, and has been involved in a number of startups, creative and advertising agencies, and digital media firms. His passion and focus is to help brands to rise above the digital noise.
In addition Gregor is a consultant on digital media innovation and adaptive design, software development and usability, and information architecture for companies including Amazon, Adobe Systems, Google and Microsoft. Considered a digital disruption innovator he is also a frequent speaker at industry and digital media events and regularly contributes to leading industry blogs and publications.
Born in Germany, Gregor has lived in Switzerland, Italy, England, Canada and the US. He is married to renowned Japanese photographer and designer Hiroko “Coco” Saita. The couple and their two cats Goma and Pixel live in Pioneer Square and are very active in their neighborhood as well as the Seattle arts community. He plans to continue having way too much fun in the digital world, preferably without killing himself.

Anders Maul
Sr. Marketing Manager, Textio

Anders is Sr. Marketing Manager at Textio — The augmented writing platform. Prior to Textio, Anders was Marketing Manager at LiveStories — The data storytelling platform for governments. Anders was the first demand generation marketer at both Textio and LiveStories and has been responsible for building out marketing activities from the ground up. Maul previously worked for Techstars in Seattle where he helped select program candidates, run the program, and manage marketing efforts. 

Raghu Nyamagoudar
Engineering Manager

Raghu is engineering manager working on Pay With Amazon product. He has 8 years of software product development experience; Experience in leading and delivering multiple enterprise solutions in different domains in retail from e-commerce platform to customer service at Amazon.  He has expertise into retail e-commerce for small and medium businesses, and marketplaces for them.

Born in India, Raghu came to Virginia Tech for his Masters. He moved to Seattle in 2008 and since then he has enjoyed working in dynamic startup groups at Amazon.

Alex Stoklas
Customer Experience Management Expert, Microsoft

Alex has extensive experience in consumer marketing and customer relationship management for high-tech and services companies around the globe.  Prior to joining Microsoft in 2013, where he currently helps implement marketing in customer service, he spent over 10 years working for T-Mobile subsidiaries in Europe and the USA. He successfully led teams there focused on the development and implementation of strategies to grow customer base value. His responsibilities included lead gen., customer retention, cross-and up-selling, segmentation and direct marketing to name a few. Alex started his professional career at a wireless start-up, running local marketing and sales campaigns to drive subscriber acquisition. His experience with subscription-based business models (wireless, cloud) taught him about the importance of life-cycle management and made him an advocate that 'customer retention starts at acquisition.'
Alex grew up in Austria and moved to the USA four years ago. He enjoys living in Seattle and loves to explore the Washington mountains and lakes together with his wife and two kids.

Marion Desmazières
International Expansion Lead, Amazon Alexa

Marion is a tech business developer based in Seattle, WA. She manages international expansion of developer programs for Alexa, the voice service powering Amazon's Echo devices. Before joining Amazon about four years ago, Marion coordinated the 2012 Global Startup Battle and managed partner relations for Startup Weekend in Seattle. She holds a Master's in Business Management from EDHEC Business School and an MBA in Technology Commercialization from the University of Alberta. A Startup Weekend veteran, Marion has facilitated 20+ events in France, Canada, the US, Algeria and Morocco.

Thibaut Labarre
Software Development Manager, Angel Investor

Engineering Manager with a Darwinian approach to innovation and long time Startup Weekend participant and organizer. Over the past 4 and a half years at Amazon, Thibaut built Heartbeat, a tool that leverages Natural Language Processing to combine millions of data points from disparate sources like product reviews, customer contacts, and social media to provide this information to worldwide product teams. 7k users access the tool every month to meet operational cost reduction goals and drive product improvements. Heartbeat started as his internship project and is now developed by a team of 18 engineers.
