Remind Me….What is a Startup Weekend on Smart Cities?

Would you like to redesign how our cities function in the Puget Sound as we move forward into the next decade and beyond?  Do you have a vision for a smarter, more sustainable environment?  It won’t happen unless we can engage you to help local government and our communities to deliver an environment where we can work, play, grow, prosper and live comfortably together.

Kirkland Startup Weekend participants will explore new applications of technology to mitigate the environmental impact of sprawl.

What is your vision of a smarter city?  Clean water, a prosperous economy, fewer carbon emissions, improved education and healthcare, and better mobility? How about Internet accessibility, sustainability, more efficient energy, improved infrastructure and city planning, urban agriculture, waste and recycling. OK….what did we leave out?

Startup Weekend is 54 hours of intense creativity.  You will experience what it is like to create a new startup company.  As you learn how to create, you’ll meet the very best mentors, investors, co-founders, and sponsors who are ready to help you get started.

Anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54-hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, UX/design, and market validation.

The weekend culminates with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for feedback and to win prizes. This event is focused exclusively on Smart City ideas.

Join us and a bunch of smart and not so smart but inventive people.  Kirkland’s Startup Weekend on Smart Cities will be November 4-6, 2016.
