We've got some great news!

The Second Startup Weekend EDU DC event will be taking place from July 25-27!  Startup Weekend Education is a 54-hour event where developers, designers, marketers, educators, and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build products, and launch startups…all in one weekend!

Startup Weekend EDUs are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where educators and aspiring edupreneurs can find out if their startup ideas are viable. On average, one third of Startup Weekend EDU’s attendees have technical backgrounds, one third have education backgrounds, and the rest have business backgrounds.

Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees are encouraged to bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams design and develop business plans while constantly streamlining their startup vision. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes, listen to judges’ feedback, and win prizes.

Startup Weekend EDUs are specifically designed for entrepreneurs in the education space interested in receiving feedback on an idea, looking for a co-founder, or who want to learn a new skill. We also welcome anyone looking to test the entrepreneurial waters. Startup Weekend EDUs are risk-free environments where everyone is expected to roll up their sleeves and dive into the exhilarating world of startups.

Over the next few weeks we will share more details about our sponsors, judges, mentors, and prizes and will keep you updated with the latest stories from SWEDU HQ.  Are you excited yet?
