and your city a unique chance at startup success.

GSB Is Your Time To Shine

GSB was created by the community and serves the community. It's your chance to stand up and show the world what you're all about. Rep your city, rep your region, bring home startup glory, and join a legacy of amazing GSB winners. During the weekend prior to and following Global Entrepreneurship Week, hundreds of Startup Weekend events are hosted around the world and winning teams from each event move forward to compete with one another via a global video competition.

Friday November 13th

6:30 pm
Arrive at the venue and get checked in

7:00 pm
Opening Ceremony from the Mayor!
Mayor Jeff Longwell will be kicking off the weekend by reading a Proclamation

7:00 pm
Dinner & Networking
Eat food, share ideas, practice pitches, get to know fellow participants

7:20 pm
Welcome & Speakers
Review agenda for the weekend and introduce speakers, coaches, and community leaders

7:30 pm
Pitches Start
Optionally line up to give your pitch. Mayor Jeff Longwell will time your one minute pitch!

9:00 pm
Attendees vote for the top pitches

9:15 pm
Form Teams
Teams start forming and discussing ideas

10:00 pm
Begin Work
Start to formalize teams and take an inventory of skills. Be honest, and direct about what resources and skills are needed for the weekend. You may stay and work as late as the venue will allow

Saturday November 14th

9:00 am
Breakfast donation from Olive Tree Catering!

9:30 am
Begin Work
Teams formed and setting up workspace for the weekend

12:00 pm
Catered by the delicious local restaurant, Cow and Sow Deli!

1:00 pm
After-lunch check-in, status reports, call for help

2:00 pm
Coach Meetings
Coaches help teams one-on-one. They are here to help!

6:30 pm
Fresh Fajita Bar provided by Carlos O'Kelly's

7:30 pm
After-dinner check-in, status reports, call for help

10:00 pm
Finished for the day. You may stay and work as late as the venue will allow

Bryan Frye
City of Wichita Council Member

 A lifelong Wichita, Bryan graduated from Wichita State University with a B.A. in Marketing. He recently retired from a 24-year career in local television marketing and is currently an independent marketing agent for two local publications.

Jamie Tabor
CEO and Creator

Jamie Tabor is the “Chick” behind Simone Chickenbone, Inc, CEO and creator of Chicken Poop Lip Junk, Tabor is the holder of numerous trademarks, and has formulated all natural heath and beauty products. Not only is Tabor an entrepreneur, she also teaches Pilates, is a health and nutrition counselor,a hair stylist, an artist, a dreamer, and most importantly, a mom. Tabor openly gives her time encouraging entrepreneurs and frequently speaks at local universities.

Mark Torline
WSU Center for Entrepreneurship Director

Torline grew up in the Wichita area, graduated from WSU and then made his career in Southern California as an investment management firm executive with demonstrated success in both start-up entrepreneurial and large corporate settings. He is now serving as Director of Wichita State's Center for Entrepreneurship.

Chris Parks

As instantly recognizable as his iconic logos, Chris Parks is a Wichita design powerhouse. A few of his local logos you'll recognize: The Anchor, Fork and Fennel, Beards Floral Design, and Cocoa Dolce, just to name a few.

Marty Spence
Owner, Songbird Juice Co.

The proud owner of Songbird Juice Co., Marty will be able to provide insider tips on what it takes to run a successful startup and be an innovator in our community.

Michael Neth
Product Design & Development Lead

Michael Neth is a Wichita-based designer and programmer. He does Product Design and Development at, freelance design and web development as, and designs board games and card games as a co-owner of 54 Hour Game Co. ( Michael's concepts and teams won Judge's Choice in both Startup Weekend Fall 2013 (for Lunch Quest, a local food discovery subscription) and Startup Weekend Spring 2014 (for Crash & Burn, a card game with mobile app integration).

Nathan Williams
Owner, Baseline Creative

Nathan has spent almost two decades as a hybrid designer, constantly evolving alongside technology and industry shifts. He founded Baseline Creative in 2006 and has grown it into a full service agency.

Jeff Longwell
Mayor, The City of Wichita

Mayor Longwell was elected to office in April 2015. He is a long-time resident of Wichita. He grew up in a west-side neighborhood and attended West High School and Wichita State University.
